What to Wear & How to Look Great!

One of the first steps in developing a persona within the SCA is deciding what to wear. In the beginning many different type of clothing can be found within the shire's membership. Your first event will probably be in loaner clothing. This is the best way to attend your first few events. First, to see if the SCA is of interest to you and second, to give you time to look around at what people are wearing. Borrowing clothes gives you time to talk to people about why they chose what they are wearing, and to see what feels comfortable to you.

The internet is one of the places to do research for clothing of different time periods. There are so many different aspects of histoy that to list them all would be a huge feat. To make the start of your search easier, we have included a few links to galleries and basic clothing construction. There are also many members of Sylvan Glen with books of research material just there for the asking. Give the members of the shire the oprotunity to show you what type of research materials they have. They will be happy to share them.
